Iranian-Indian committee discusses gas-related issues

The Iranian and Indian governments have agreed to study security issues concerning the proposed Iran-India Gas Pipeline, during the the first meeting of India-Iran Joint Committee in Tehran on Aug. 19 and 20. The committee also agreed to examined different means of transferring Iranian natural gas to India, including onshore and offshore pipelines as well as liquefied natural gas.  

 

The Indian side delegation led by secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs, K. V. Rajan, while the Iranian side by deputy foreign minister for economic affairs, S. Adeli. During his visist to Tehran, Rajan also met Iranian foreign minister, Kamal Kharrazi and Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh 

 

During their deliberation, the two delegation stressed the mutually beneficial relation the two countries enjoyed. They noted Iran's extensive gas reserves and India's increasing energy needs. 

 

The next meeting of the joit committee will take place in New Delhi at a date that has still not been decided. – (Albawaba-MEBG)
