Deputy managing director of Iran's Saipa Car Manufacturing Company, Abdulvahhab Shariati, said on Wednesday that an agreement for producing "Pride" car to Syria worth $45 million has been signed between his affiliated company and a private Syrian firm named "Hamish".
Additionally, another Iranian car manufacturer, "Iran Khodro," has signed a letter of understanding for the establishment of a factory to assemble an all-Iranian car, "Samand", in Syria with two firms named as "Al-Hendesiah" (belonging to Syrian industries ministry) and "As-Sultan", which is a private company. The primary investment of the project is $ 70 million.
According to IRNA, Saipa's plant in Syria would be built in an industrial township in Homs province. The construction of the plant will be implemented in two phases and would produce 15 thousand "Pride" passenger cars annually.
Shariati said after-sale services network will be active in Syria for four years in addition to the service centers active in 36 Syrian cities currently.
He added 'Pride' car has been welcomed as a taxi-cab in Syria. The Saipa company official conveyed that 50 percent of the facilities of the production line will be manufactured in Iran. (menareport.com)
