Despite the 14 percent drop in the exports of the other seafood, Iran's shrimp exports increased by 25 percent and 6.5 percent in terms of weight and value respectively during the past 10 months.
“Seafood, including fishes, shrimps, caviar valued at about $64,811,000 were exported during the past 10 months showing a 14-percent decrease compared to the year before”, noted a report by the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration, according to IRNA.
A total of 6,637 tons of shrimp valued at $27,029,000 was exported during the period, the figure is indicative of 25 percent and 6.5 percent increase in terms of weight and value respectively as compared with the corresponding period last year, the report added.
Meanwhile, 34 tons of caviar valued at $20,281,000 was exported in the same period, however, the figure indicates 31 percent and 32 percent decrease compared to the preceding year.
Moreover, the exports of fresh, frozen and smoked fish hit $8,378,000 registering a 12-percent decline compared to the year before, the report further explained.
