Iran has exported 62,000 tons of pistachios worth $193 million during the past seven months, a 41 percent increase compared to the same period last year, press reports said on Sunday, November 18.

Iran produces some 200,000 tons of pistachios each year. Iran's non-oil exports for the months between March and September 2001 were set at $1.63 billion, a 35 percent rise compared to the same period last year. Carpets and pistachios are Iran's main non-oil export products. — (AFP, Tehran)
