Bahrain’s Khalil Ali Akbar Lari Group plans to set up a local Zamzam soft drink manufacturing plant. The two million dollar project will minimize the company’s reliance on product imports from Iran, reported Gulf News. The first phase of construction would establish one production line capable of producing 330 milliliters cans of the beverage.
The Khalil Ali Akbar Lari Group introduced Zamzam earlier this year first in Bahrain and then in Saudi Arabia. The cost of transporting the product from Iran had weighed heavily in favor of the proposal to have a production facility in Bahrain.
The popular boycott of American products in the Middle East has opened a window of opportunity for Iran’s Zamzam Cola. During its first four months on the market, the soft drink company produced 10 million bottles for export to the Gulf region. More than four million cans of Zamzam were sold in the first seven days of sales in Saudi Arabia. — (menareport.com)
