Iran’s Khodro Auto Manufacturing Company and Kazakhstan’s Electrotrans Company have agreed to collaborate on a bus assembly project. The new factory will have an annual output level of 250 vehicles, reported IRNA.

The two firms have already received an order to produce 300 vehicles for the Tajikistan’s capital Dushanbe. The factory will be located in the former Soviet Republic where Khodro will produce the vehicle’s bodywork and motors and Electrotrans will manufacture the remaining parts.

Iran Khodro is the biggest automobile manufacturing plant in Iran. It was established in 1962 and began assembling the Paykan model followed by the production of Mercedes Benz Bus 302 and Minibus 309 as well as Paykan Pick up.

With a market share of over 60 percent in Iran, Iran Khodro currently produces the Peugeot 206, Peugeot 405 and Peugeot Persia models. The company is also a leading maker of commercial vehicles and has contracts with Daimler Chrysler to manufacture Mercedes Benz trucks and buses, and Korean Hyundai Motors for manufacturing buses for the local market. — (menareport.com)
