The value of Iran’s general budget, opening in March 2002,was fixed at 758 billion Iranian Rials ($432 million), reported Al-Bayan . This figure implies a 45 percent growth compared with the general budget of 2001. The reason for the growth is related to the US dollar exchange rate increase to 7,750 from 1,750 Iranian Riyals. If the US dollar exchange rate is calculated as IR 8,000 in the free market, then the value of the new Iranian budget stands at $83 billion. — (menareport.com)
