Intel has announced its plans for GITEX 2005 with a bold move to set the agenda for the annual Dubai-based event. The company will be demonstrating the ‘power of platformisation’, according to Samir Al Schamma, General Manager, Intel Gulf Co-Operation Council (GCC).
“It has been clear for some time that the convergence of computing and communications is having a profound effect on business as well as the day-to-day life of individuals around the world,” said Al Schamma. “Intel is the provider of a full set of technology ingredients – microprocessors, chipsets, communications chips, base software capabilities as well as Intel® Centrino™ Mobile Technology – that work together as a platform to improve the way technology is used. Visitors to our stand at GITEX, whether they are interested in business or consumer applications, will be able to experience for themselves how Intel’s unique vision for realising the ‘power of platformisation’ will enable them to benefit from digital convergence.”
Earlier this year Intel re-organised its global operation around what the company defined as five major platforms: mobility, digital home, digital enterprise, digital healthcare and channel platforms.
“GITEX continues to attract key decision makers from around the region including government officials, consumers and educators,” said Al Schamma. “As the Middle East’s leading IT event the Show presents Intel with the perfect opportunity to showcase new technology, to meet customers face to face and to discuss with them how Intel can best serve them and their needs. As far as consumers are concerned Computer Shopper provides an excellent forum to work with regional retailers in engaging directly with visitors and to bring pioneering technologies to life in a fun and exciting manner.”
Intel’s strong focus on supporting the regional channel will also be evident at the Show as demonstrations of the latest platforms launched by regional channel members in such areas as mobility and digital home will be on display. Intel launched its Platform Definition Centre in Cairo earlier this year to provide training, marketing and support to regional systems integrators. The Platform Definition Centre will work to define and develop platforms designed specifically for the needs of Intel’s customers in the Middle East, Turkey and Africa with a focus on the education and SMB sectors.
Intel will be in Hall 3, stand Q3-3 at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre. GITEX takes place from September 24th to 29th.
