ALBAWABA – Edits, a free video editing app that helps creators easily turn their ideas into videos using just their phones, was launched last week by Instagram, the popular photo-sharing and social networking platform. In its first week, the app generated over 7 million downloads.
Edits from Instagram surpassed CapCut
Notably, Instagram launched Edits last week, and within its first week, the app generated over 7 million downloads—surpassing the popular CapCut application.
According to Appfigures data, Edits recorded approximately 701,900 downloads on iOS devices within the first two days of its launch—nearly 37 times more than CapCut’s downloads during the same period.
According to TechCrunch, Edits recorded over 7.1 million downloads—1.2 million on iOS and 5.9 million on Android devices.

Notably, the app was downloaded around 381,000 times in the United States alone. In comparison, CapCut—a short-form video and graphic editing app developed by Chinese company ByteDance—saw just 3,400 downloads in the US during its initial launch period.
