Wireless information service provider Info2cell.com has extended its network to the State of Qatar with the recent launch of the Q-Info service, in co-ordination with Q-tel the local provider of GSM services in Qatar.
The information will be provided by Info2cell.com, and routed through Q-tel's own Short Message Service Centre (SMS-C). Mobile phone users in Qatar can now avail the SMS Breaking News Services both in Arabic and English.
With the SMS Breaking News Services going live in Qatar, the State has become the fifth country in the Middle East to receive Info2cell.com's wireless text services via mobile phones. The SMS Breaking News service will enable customers to initially receive a mix of headlines, which they can later tailor to their own specific requirements.
The Q-Info service in Qatar is being offered at a fee of 20 Qatari riyals ($5.5) per month. Info2cell was established in 1998 to fulfill the need for wireless value added services. In the year 2000, Info2cell reengineered and redesigned its core business. The content provision model was also revamped with the addition of many content providers and channels.
The company is a private shareholding company with a five million dollar paid up capital. Shareholders are a diverse group, including the Emirati Belhasa Group, the Jordan Abu Jaber Investment Group, and Italy’s the Acotel Group.
Info2cell’s headquarters are now located at Dubai Internet City (DIC). The primary development center is in Jordan and editorial offices are located in Beirut, Cairo, Ramallah and Amman. — (menareport.com)
