Info2cell’s SMS subscribers exceed 100,000

Wireless service provider Info2cellInfo2cell.com announced that it has reached surpassed 100,000 registered Short Messaging Service (SMS) Breaking News subscribers. The company, which offers news, stock quotesations and currency exchange rates to subscribers in four countries in the Middle East— Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates (UAE)—also announced the launch of its services in Arabic and a new service designed to bring sportsWorld Cup updates to mobile phone users. “Our strategic alliances and partnerships with premium technology and information providers has ensured that Info2cellInfo2cell.com is fully equipped to offer comprehensive solutions to its subscribers,” said Bashar Dahabra, Info2cellInfo2cell.com CEO. “According to current plans, we aim to touch 250,000 subscribers by 2003 and 500,000 subscribers by 2004double the figure a year later. We are targeting a total potential of 12 million mobile subscribers in the region,” he added. 

 

 

Info2cell.com’s latest initiative - World Cup update service - will ensure that the latest scores of the matches played in Japan and Korea will be flashed on subscribers’ phone screens, keeping soccer lovers up-to-date regardless of where they are. The service which will provide World Cup live scores, as well as half-time and full-time scores from all matches, latest news and updates, match timings, team standings and daily summaries, is being offered to subscribers for a flat fee of Dhs 30 in the UAE.  

 

Info2cellInfo2cell.com, which has invested over $2.5 million in an adaptable wireless platform at the Dubai Internet City (DIC) data center, offers its services through the GSM operators Mobinil in Egypt, Fastlink in Jordan, MTC in Kuwait and Etisalat in the UAE.While itsThe company also has a back-up Data Center located in Rome, Italy. The bulk of the editorial content is handled from the Jordan office.  

 

Info2cellInfo2cell.com’s tied-up with Italian web wireless application service provider Acotel, which has a 33 percent stake in the company. This collaboration allows the company access to European latest Wireless Application Service Provider (WASP) technology.
