Inflation in Saudi Arabia slipped to 2.1% in June 2006, while money supply also eased 0.3% to SAR 597.4 bn (USD 159.3 bn) and the central bank’s net foreign assets surged 4.4%. The cost of living index, based on data from 16 cities was slightly up by 0.1% in June versus May and up 2.1% over the previous 12 months. The index showed the year-on-year rise in May 2006 was 2.2%. According to SAMA, net foreign assets stood at SAR 715.19 bn, its highest record thus far.
