The Qatar Shipping Company (Q-Ship) has commissioned India’s Bharati Shipping (BSL) to build a $3.6 million tanker berthing assistance tug. The tug will be operated by Q-Ship for a ten-year period at the Halul offshore terminals in cooperation with Qatar Petroleum (QP).
Ship Building has emerged as a new area for cooperation between Indian and Qatari companies. In 2001, Bharati Shipping bagged a Q-Ship contract valued at $4.5 million for building a Wireline Support Vessel for offshore services for Qatar Petroleum. The company had already built and delivered four tugs for Q-Ship's Harbour Towage operations at Mesaieed Port for Qatar in 1999.
Q-Ship currently owns and operates a seven-vessel deep-sea fleet having an aggregate tonnage of 711,153 dwt. They comprise of four petroleum product tankers, one clean petroleum product tanker and two OBOs. It offers shipping services for liquefied petroleum gas, liquefied natural gas, crude and clean oil, dry and bulk cargo. — (menareport.com)
