Most of the ISP’s operating in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia described the recent Internet fee cuts offered by the King Abdul-Aziz Sciences and Technologies City as a step in the right direction.
According to a report in the Al-Sharq Al-Wast newspaper, these Internet service providing companies (ISPs) agreed that this initiative is only a beginning since it will not put an end to all the recurring disconnection problems in the Saudi Internet network.
The director general of the Saudi Internet Company, Abdul-Qader Fantoukh, stated that “this Internet fee reduction reflects a good intention on behalf of the city, yet it is still not enough”. He added that, “the technical problem regarding connection to the Internet is still there, since all connections have to be made through the city, despite the repeated complaints in this matter.” ¯ (Albawaba-MEBG)
