Saudi security officials in the holy city of Mecca are questioning some 100 citizens and expatriates involved in selling government-owned real estate south of the city.

According to Arab News, police detained them earlier this week in a wide-ranging raid in villages in southern Mecca. The accused duped customers by selling them the property through real estate agents who gave them officially authorized documents but no legal deeds. It is not clear what kind of punishment is awaiting the accused if they are found guilty.
