Gulf Business Machines (GBM) Oman, the sole distributor for IBM Products and services in the country, has completed the implementation of National Bank of Oman's (NBO) NetB@nk, the first online internet banking service in the Sultanate.

The solution put in place by GBM Oman complements the country's banking sector with a premier range of value-added e-banking services built into IBM's WebSphere for Banking solution.

The solution proposed by GBM Oman integrates the processes and information in the banking environment, driving NBO's commitment to provide customer service at all times. This system will enable the bank to differentiate customers and customize its services based on their specific requirements.

NBO, the first local bank in the Sultanate was set up in 1973. Today it is one of the largest banks in Oman with a paid up capital of 45.8 million Omani rials ($119 million), and a net worth of OR 105 million ($ 273 million). The growth of the institution has been concurrent with the growth and boom in the nation's economy.

NBO serves it customers in Oman through 56 service centers nationwide. Additionally NBO has expanded it overseas operations and has five service centers in Egypt and one service center in Abu Dhabi. With the establishment of NBO's Call Center, customers can now have NBO's banking services 24 hours a day. — (menareport.com)
