Hyundai Mobile, a leading manufacturer of GSM, CDMA and DECT phones and electronics, on Wednesday officially opened its new headquarters and showroom in Dubai Internet City (DIC).
The company first registered its interests in opening an office at DIC in October 2004. The decision to move to Dubai was based on its ability to help facilitate the expanding world operations of Hyundai and the reputation of DIC as a regional and global IT and technology hub. The location of Dubai in regards to world markets also played its part in influencing the decision.
Jamal Abdul Salam, Executive Director of DIC said, “The decision of Hyundai Mobile to locate its Middle East operation in DIC is testament to the continuing growth of our community, which is constantly being bolstered by well-respected companies from around the world. Every time a company of the calibre and reputation of Hyundai decides to join us here in Dubai Internet City, it strengthens our overall offering and reputation for ICT provision. It also brings additional benefits all of the existing partners from around the world that have made this their Middle East business hub.”
Ahmed Al Subani, General Manager from Hyundai also announced plans to expand into the Americas after the company has achieved record success in MENA, the Gulf and Asian and African markets.
Al Subani commented, “Capitalizing on our success in these regions, we will in Q1 2006 launch a sales office in Chile, which will serve as a sales base to expand across the rest of Latin America. This will be followed by another in the United States, which we hope to see open in Q2 2006.”
He also added, “Such success in these markets was the result of an aggressive marketing campaign and remarkable exposure of Hyundai Mobile through its participation in various world expos, such as GITEX, IT Brazil and Mobilink Fair - Islamabad.”
Four months after Hyundai set up its R&D center in Taiwan and Korea for its GSM/GPRS products, the company then further enhanced its presence in Jordan, Egypt, South Korea and China with the opening of regional branches, further demonstrating its global plans. Expansion plans are also being drawn up for Iran, South Africa, Turkey and Kazakhstan.
Al Subani concluded, “Hyundai Mobile's basic philosophy is that a mobile phone is not a mere communication tool, but rather a threshold into a new and different lifestyle and culture. From the simple audio transmission to an animated video communication, mobile becomes a new way of personal identification and a way of delivering content rich media.”
At Gitex this year Hyundai Mobile will show case its latest range of products like its first smart phone using the Windows 5.0 OS, and the new DECT IP phones, together with a selection of many of its other new models.
