There’s a reason we look for promotions when buying products that we want or use dining vouchers when we eat out. We want to get the best for our money. Sure, there are times (and people) for when brand loyalty skews our thinking but in general, we want our dollar to go a long way. And today we’ll be looking at a phone that promises just that.

When you think of a high-end phone - the features you associate with it are premium design and finish, beautiful screen, the latest features and fast performance along with an excellent camera. When we think of such a phone, we tend to put a pricing of close to AED 2500.

But what if I showed you a phone that has all that and costs almost a thousand Dirhams less? That’s exactly what the Honor 8 is.

You can check out our comprehensive review here, but let's talk about all the points I’ve mentioned above for a high-end device and see how the Honor 8 fits in.

The Honor 8 is surely one of the most beautiful handsets that we’ve see for a while. The choice of colors and finishing on the back give the phone a super premium look that you don’t always find even in high-end devices. I personally love the Sapphire Blue finish which has fifteen layers of glass and reflects a light pattern unlike anything else on the market.

Features & Performance

The Honor 8 ticks pretty much all the boxes when it comes to features. A fast 2.6GHz octa core CPU. Check. Dual cameras. Check. A gorgeous screen and a fingerprint sensor. Check and check. I’m not claiming that the Honor 8 is the fastest phone I’ve tested or has the best screen on a phone, but it’s pretty darn good in each of those areas.

Camera

The Honor 8 comes with two cameras on the back. It’s a trend that was started by Huawei and then LG and Apple followed. Interestingly, all three phones use a different approach on how they utilize the second camera. LG provides a wider view whereas Apple provides a zoomed in view. Honor uses one camera for color and the other for brightness levels which allows you to get creative with your pictures.

The results are very impressive- here is a sample.

So there you have it. The Honor 8 is one of those phones that anyone would price north of AED 2000. But you can purchase it directly from AED 1599 which includes the official warranty.
