Heritage Oil’s Oman Tibat-1 Well test program results showed that the first DST flowed at an average rate of approximately 10 million cubic feet of gas a day with relatively high levels of associated condensate production.

Tests on the well commenced with the examinations of the upper sections of the well in mid January. These initial tests of the Mauddud and top Thamama tested through an estimated 16 meters of perforations of the logged reservoir.

The joint venture has closed off the top tested sections and is currently in the process of testing the lower sections in the Thamama over 90 meters of perforations. The second DST is taking considerably longer than expected due to mechanical problems with the acid wash program, a necessary part of the process prior to producing from carbonate reservoirs.

The lower sections of the Thamama had strong shows whilst drilling and these wereconfirmed by the logs. Testing of these lower zones of the Thamama will be an important part of assessing the commerciality of the Tibat discovery. Currently, operations are being undertaken to clean up the bottom section of the well so that a further attempt to run the acidisation and testing is expected to be completed within the next five to seven days, subject to operations being completed satisfactorily.

Heritage holds a 10 percent working interest in both Block 8, Oman, in which it holds an interest in the producing Bukha gas/condensate field, and in the adjoining Block 17 license, through its wholly owned subsidiary Eagle Energy (Oman). Its partners in the Tibat-1 Well are Novus Petroleum Limited, LG International and Atlantis Holding Norway.
