The United Arab Emirates (UAE)’s Al-Madini Group (AMG) is to open 16 new Hang Ten branded leisurewear stores across the Middle East by the end of 2002. AMG, the Hang Ten master licensee for the Middle East, CIS and West Africa, says it will invest over 16 million Emirati dirhams ($4.35 million) in expanding the regional reach of the distinctive ‘two feet’ logo through an aggressive franchising program.

"By the year’s end we hope to have two more outlets in the UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait and Qatar, three in Lebanon and five in Saudi Arabia," explained Ali Kabul, AMG’s brand manager. AMG also distributes the Levi’s and Dockers product ranges.

"The Hang Ten brand continues to gain market share of the under-30 leisurewear sector and our research indicates it’s now time to expand to take advantage of growing consumer acceptance. The regional presence expansion is part of our on going commitment to position the Hang Ten brand as a market leader."

The company made the announcement at Motexha Spring 2002, the international fashion and retail show, which runs at the Dubai World Trade Center until April 18. — (menareport.com)
