ALBAWABA - Gulf Air the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain, inaugurated its first flights to AlUla International Airport today. The airline will operate direct flights between Bahrain and AlUla twice a week, starting from February 3rd until March 6th, and from April 10th to April 27th.
The Royal Commission for AlUla Governorate aims to establish air connectivity with various international and domestic destinations, making AlUla a global logistics hub in the northwest of the Kingdom. This was reported by the Saudi Arabian official news agency, "SPA."
Rami Al-Muallem, Deputy President for Tourism Destinations and Marketing at the Royal Commission for AlUla Governorate, stated, "We are delighted to welcome new visitors on their journey to AlUla, which offers a unique cultural and touristic experience. Including AlUla in Gulf Air's major seasonal destinations for 2024 showcases what this historical destination has to offer to international travelers and visitors. It also fulfills our efforts to facilitate access to the destination through direct international flights from neighboring international aviation hubs."

In recent years, AlUla International Airport has witnessed numerous projects aimed at enhancing its efficiency in welcoming travelers and providing services to the residents and visitors of AlUla. The airport joined the list of international airports in March 2021, and its total area has increased to approximately 2.4 million square meters. Additionally, the airport's apron can now accommodate up to 15 aircraft simultaneously.
The expansion of flight operations and the development of the airport infrastructure align with AlUla's goals of welcoming two million visitors annually by 2035, in order to become a leading model for a practical and sustainable tourism strategy that ensures the destination's continued uniqueness in the future.
It is worth mentioning that Saudi Arabian Airlines has expanded its flight network to AlUla International Airport by connecting AlUla to Europe through flights to Paris. They have also added international destinations to AlUla from Dubai, Doha, and Cairo.
