The New York office of international design and architecture firm Perkins Eastman joined Abu Dhabi National Hotels (ADNH) in celebrating the recent groundbreaking of the new Park Hyatt Saadiyat Island Hotel and Resort in Dubai, UAE. The 484,400 sf (45,000 sm) development is envisioned as a benchmark of luxury in a memorable seaside setting. This will be the first hotel to open on the Island, being developed as an international cultural and recreational destination.

The design brings together all the elements of a unique luxury resort destination where the architecture and landscape design complement each other—blurring the line between the indoors and outdoors. The 314 guestrooms and suites are varied, located primarily in the main building and wings as well as in single- and double-story riads along the boardwalk and private beach. The guestrooms are designed with extended terraces and open bathrooms, with most units having a view of the Arabian Sea.

The quality and standards resonate throughout the resort, creating a destination that is expected of the Park Hyatt brand, and raises the level of quality for the region.

Amenities include two swimming pools, main dining room, specialty restaurant/bar, beach restaurant, private beach, spa, and meeting/banqueting facilities. “The Park Hyatt Saadiyat Beach will be one of the most luxurious and exciting new resort properties in the UAE,” says Principal Shawn Basler AIA, who leads Perkins Eastman’s growing international hospitality practice. He furthers, “The blend of luxurious amenities, harmony with nature, inspired architecture, and guest accommodations will create a destination worthy of its dramatic setting on the shores of the Arabian Gulf.”

Construction is expected to be complete within 18 months, welcoming its first guests by the end of the first quarter of 2011.
