ALBAWABA - American tech giant Google has announced firing 28 pro-Palestine employees after their stance on the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza and the company's contract with Israel.
This comes after the employees formed a group named 'No Tech For Apartheid' against the 1.2 billion cloud contract between the company and Israel under the name of Project Nimbus.
In response to the contract, the employees in question held a 10-hour sit-in at two Google offices in Sunnyvale, California, and New York City in protest of the tech giant's ties with Israel which didn't end well for them, according to the Anadolu.
Google fires 28 pro-Palestine employees
The official X (Formerly known as Twitter) account for 'No Tech for Apartheid' posted:
"This evening, Google indiscriminately fired over two dozen workers, including those among us who did not directly participate in yesterday’s historic, bicoastal 10-hour sit-in protests".
Google's head of global security Chris Rackow weighed on the tech giant's zero-tolerance for protests of this caliber and behavior which became the talk of social media. In addition to his comments about the matter, the company sent a memo to all employees which read:
"Behavior like this has no place in our workplace and we will not tolerate it," and "Following the investigation, today we terminated the employment of twenty-eight employees found to be involved. We will continue to investigate and take action as needed".
Later, the pro-Palestine employees were detained by the police and arrested, according to the group on X.
