ALBAWABA - Google, owned by Alphabet announced the decision to lay off hundreds of employees in its advertising sales team, marking the latest in a series of job cuts within the company.
This move signals the continuation of employee layoffs this year, as companies increasingly turn to artificial intelligence and automation programs to alleviate the burdens of work.
Last week, Google disclosed its intention to lay off numerous employees in the voice assistant units, hardware teams responsible for Pixel, Nest, and Fitbit, as well as the augmented reality team. The company stated that the Customer Solutions unit in Google, serving mid-level advertising clients, will be the core team for future developments.
Last month, Google, previously hailed as a pioneer in encouraging artificial intelligence research, unveiled its long-awaited artificial intelligence model, "Gemini," as it strives to catch up with Microsoft in this rapidly evolving sector.
In January 2023, Alphabet announced plans to eliminate 12,000 jobs, equivalent to 6% of its global workforce.
