Founded in 1995, the group has participated in Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) as one of the key sponsors since its inception, and has rolled out many innovative promotions. It also organizes training programs for members to help them improve services to consumers. Its activities have played a key role in helping Dubai gain the title of City of Gold.

The new chairman of the committee is Tawhid Abudullah. Other newly elected office bearers are as follows: Hani Rashid Al-Rashid, Vice Chairman; Deepak Jagjivan, Secretary; Paresh Dhanak; Treasurer, C.J. Sunny, Joint Secretary; Kishor Dhakan, Joint Treasurer.

The outgoing Chairman of the Gold and Jewelry Group, Tawfique Abdullah, congratulated the new office bearers and wished them success. He offered his assistance to help the new team achieve their set goals. He will continue in the committee as he was re-elected.

“Developmental activities will be a priority, while we will also focus on training and development of the trade personnel with a view to upgrading the service given to consumers. Other areas of focus will be promoting the exchange of ideas among trade members, and initiating new activities for promoting the retail trade.”

He added that the group would continue to liaise with governmental authorities in implementing various progressive new initiatives and would also try to provide legal advice to members, if required, for trade related activities. A number of sub committees will be formed to ensure effective and timely implementation of the committee’s resolutions. — (menareport.com)
