Ghribi: Rebuilding of Syria and Iraq is complex but necessary

The path to reconciliation and recovery is a long one. For the first time in decades, Ghribi says that rebuilding of Syria and Iraq is complex but necessary. Within the framework of a wide-ranging institutional mission in the Middle East, Kamel Ghribi, President of GKSD Holding Investment Group and Vice President of GSD (San Donato Group), has consolidated critical bilateral relations in the fields of health, economic diplomacy, and strategic private sector cooperation, actively engaging in reconstruction and development. The path of rebirth and growth in Iraq under the leadership of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' Al-Sudani, a leader committed to charting a path of strategic construction and rehabilitation.

In this context, the laying of the foundation stone of a highly symbolic project was proudly celebrated: the redevelopment of the former Turkish Restaurant in Tahrir Square, in the heart of Baghdad. The building will be transformed into a health centre of excellence, dedicated to advanced medical care and the well-being of Iraqi citizens. The ceremony was attended by the highest Iraqi and international institutional authorities, led by Prime Minister Al-Sudani, the Health Minister Dr. Saleh Al-Hasnawi, the Vice-President of the Italian Senate, Sen. Licia Ronzulli, the EU Special Envoy for the Gulf, Hon. Luigi Di Maio, and the Mayor of Baghdad, Ammar Musa Kazem. Two years of solid cooperation between the Iraqi government and GKSD Holding have resulted in the new facility, which will house a state-of-the-art hospital.

With the highest international standards, it is managed by an integrated team of Italian and Iraqi professionals. In the wake of its cooperation with the Ministry of Health, GKSD is committed to replicating the successful model already in place in the hospitals of Najaf and Basra, promoted by the hospital group GSD (Gruppo San Donato). In parallel with this initiative, GKSD, led by its Chairman, Kamel Ghribi, undertook a diplomatic mission to Syria, where he and President Ahmad Al-Sharaa, along with Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmad Hassan Al-Shibani, discussed the critical goals. This positive collaboration further strengthens the ties between Syria and Italy, outlining a shared vision of stability and prosperity. During the visit, Kamel Ghribi emphasized GKSD's commitment to providing comprehensive medical and strategic support to the Syrian leader, offering advisory expertise, technologies, and models of excellence to revitalize the local health system.

Kamel Ghribi stated, "Investing in the new Syria requires vision and courage. It is time to look ahead, to believe in a better future. Syria is a great country, with a rich historical culture and a diverse, multi-talented population. We aim to contribute to its rebuilding  with respect, an aligned vision, and in the spirit of humanity."
