Germany's unemployment rate sees a rise to 3.4% in March

The unemployment rate rose to 3.4% in Germany last month, from 2.9% in March 2023, the statistical authority Destatis revealed on Tuesday.

There are 1.42 million unemployed people in the country as of March, up 18.1% versus March 2023, it noted.

The number of employed people was 45.7 million in the country last month.

"Compared with March 2023, the number of persons in employment in March 2024 was up 0.2%, or 100,000," it added.
