German-Iranian shipbuilding cooperation established

Iran’s Sahel Shipping company and Germany’s Thyssen Nordseewerke (TNSW) decided to establish a joint marine engineering venture in Iran. The two companies also signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) providing for technological cooperation in the design and construction ships of up to 75,000 tons, reported the Tehran Times.  

 

The Emden-based TNSW is a ThyssenKrupp Industries subsidiary, specializing in building, repairing and converting merchant ships, gas and chemical tankers, navy frigates, submarines and ice-breaking vessels. The shipyard today employs about 1,300 people and has backlog orders of more than two billion euros. The ThyssenKrupp industrial group includes six operating units: steel, automotive, elevator, technologies, materials and serv. — (menareport.com)
