GE Aircraft Engines has won a contract to supply GE T700-701C helicopter engines to the government of Kuwait. The new engines will power the government's new fleet of 16 Boeing AH-64D Apache Longbow attack helicopters.
The contract, valued at $30 million, allows for the supply of 32 engines to be installed on the new fleet of helicopters, as well as four spares. The T700-701C powers the latest AH-64A/D Apaches and H-60 Black Hawk variants.
GE Aircraft Engines, is the jet engines manufacturing division of General Electric Company, supplying engines for military and civil aircraft, including engines produced by CFM International, a 50/50 joint venture of Snecma Moteurs of France and GE. GE Aircraft Engines also manufactures gas turbines for marine and industrial applications.
GE has been active in the Gulf since 1933. Its activities in the region are conducted through direct presence, joint ventures, strategic alliances, and a wide network of distributors. GE has completed strategic projects in various hi-tech industrial sectors, defense-related contracts and major infrastructure developments.
