GCC Secretary General Abdul-Rahman Bin Hamad Al-Attiyah has stated the upcoming GCC summit will discuss important economic issues including measures needed to unify custom tariffs by 2007.
In a preface he wrote for the GCC annual report, issued by the GCC Secretariat General to make the upcoming 26th GCC summit, he said that among the economic topics on the summit agenda, is suspending for one year the imposition of custom duties on imported cement, gravel, and construction iron bars.
GCC leaders will follow up on vital issues and projects such as the water linkage network, the population balance, the issue of smartcard IDs for GCC citizens and the railway network project. According to Kuna, the GCC report has tackled various issues including the custom union, GCC common market, GCC monetary union, and others.
The 26th GCC summit is to take place in 18 and 19 December in Abu Dhabi.
