GCC hopes to ink a much-awaited free trade accord with the European Union in May, a Gulf representative has said, according to the GDN."We agreed we should accelerate the negotiation," Abdul Rahman Al Attiyah, secretary general of the Gulf Cooperation Council, told reporters after talks with officials from the EU's executive Commission.
"Hopefully by May 15, when the joint ministerial meeting will meet, we can initial the agreement between the two parties," he added, according to the Bahraini paper.
It should be noted that talks for a free trade deal between the EU and the GCC started more than 15 years ago.
