US desktop PC producer, Gateway, will launch a major bid for a share of the Kuwaiti consumer market at the Info/Connect Exhibition 2001, to be held at the Kuwait international fairs ground, January 27 - February 2.

"Gateway has been selling into Kuwait's business and corporate sectors for the last five years, mainly through its business-focused local reseller Universe Computers, but is now focusing on the consumer arena through Infomedia, its consumer-focused authorized reseller," said Lenia Iacovides, director of Gateway international markets. "The consumer market forms a vital component of our strategy as Gateway expands its operations in the Middle East and Kuwait in particular.”

According to a company release, Gateway, a Fortune 250 company founded in 1985, ranked number one in US consumer PC revenue in 1999, and was rated among the top ten best corporate reputations in America according to a 1999 survey published in the Wall Street Journal.

In 1999, Gateway was seventh in total return to shareholders among Fortune 500 companies and tenth in total shareholder terms over the past five years. Gateway had total global revenue of $8.65 billion in 1999.
