The Gulf Aircraft Maintenance Company (Gamco) has developed the Middle East’s first avon gas generator testing facility. The company invested more that $1.36 million into the project, located at the company’s Abu Dhabi location, reported Gulf News.
The project was launched in March 2002 with the introduction of the completely new operating system. British-based Rolls Royce completed the upgrade of the test bed to a CAT 1 standard, making it the first in the region capable of performing industrial avon testing.
Gamco is a joint business venture between the Government of Abu Dhabi and Gulf Air. Established in 1987, the company was designed and developed specifically to provide full aircraft servicing, maintenance and overhaul capability to support the operation of Gulf Air and third party customers operating commercial and military aircraft fleets.
The principal areas of business activity include; aircraft, engine and component maintenance, repair and overhaul. It also provides full technical support services including engineering, quality assurance, materials management, technical planning, and records management.
