Company Press Release:
Compaq Computer Middle East, Mediterranean and Africa (MEMA) will sponsor the next Middle East series of First Tuesday events, the monthly business networking event that brings together Internet entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, business angels and technology expertise. First Tuesday launched its first Middle East event in May 2000 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Compaq has a clear strategy to lead in providing Internet infrastructure, access, services and solutions, said Karen Bell-Wright, marketing communications manager of Compaq Computer MEMA. As many Middle East organizations start to prepare themselves for e-Business and many entrepreneurs plan Internet start-ups here, Compaq can provide the products, solutions and the local professional services that will be critical success factors for their businesses today.
First Tuesday is a great opportunity for Internet entrepreneurs to share experiences, practice and advice and we are sure that Compaqױs participation can add value to this event.׃
“We’re delighted to have Compaq Computer on board for our next First Tuesday event in Dubai,” said Nick Leighton, city leader, First Tuesday Dubai. First Tuesday has made a name for itself by introducing Internet talent, finance, business know-how and technology expertise to each other and we welcome Compaq’s involvement in the event next Tuesday. Compaq and First Tuesday have similar aims to grow the e-Community in the Middle East region.
Septembe’s event will have speakers covering IP (Intellectual Property) in the IT community and on-line payments. Speakers come from Clyde & Co and Visa.
First Tuesday is quickly expanding to be the global B2B (business-to-business) start-up portal for Internet companies. First Tuesday was launched in October of 1998 in Soho, London and is so named, because it is held on the first Tuesday of each month. With over 80,000 members and events in over 90 cities worldwide, Dubai is the first host city in the Middle East. The venue is traditionally announced just 24 hours before the event over the Internet.
“Security, scalability and availability have become make or break business issues for companies in the 21st Century,” added Bell-Wright. Particularly, since Internet-savvy consumers expect these companies to be available 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Failure of IT systems can now, more than ever, be measured in hard cash terms and so choosing the right technology and the right technology business partners has never been more important.
First Tuesday exists to provide e-entrepreneurs with the trusted resources they need to achieve their business dreams more rapidly and enjoyably than they could alone in the new Internet economy. The event, web portal and associated communities deliver the connections, information, tools, products and services to bring companies to life quickly.
The next First Tuesday event, which is free to attendees, takes place on 5th September and is also sponsored by McKinsey & Co. Those interested to attend this and future events can send an email to [email protected].
