An e-commerce business training program: “Training of Trainers” was launched on Sunday, December 10, marking the beginning of a one week series of sessions to increase the contributions of small firms to the global market.
The program signed on Oct.1, 2000 targets small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), is the first phase of three e-commerce related projects co-organized by the European Commission, the Amman Chamber of Industry (ACI), the Information Technology Association, and the Euro-Jordanian Business Service Team.
“This is a very interesting program and it gives us the chance to look into the e-commerce from a bigger perspective,” Nicolai Porsbo, one of the European trainers and consultants on the project, told the Jordan Times.
Porsbo hailed the workshop as very practical, well-planned and designed to transfer European know-how in this field to the Arab world via Jordan.
The rehabilitation of a skillful team capable of dealing with the ever-changing world of technology, specifically, the E-business, E-commerce and the ability to make use of it in the Kingdom is the focus of the upcoming sessions.
“As we are part of this world, we have to be highly equipped and advanced with modern technologies in order to work in line with His Majesty King Abdullah's vision and compete more effectively”, said the chairman of the ACI, Othman Bdeir.
The participants, professionals from Jordanian chambers of commerce and industry, business associations, information technology companies and educational institutes, will receive free training that will focus on two main streams, Management Process and Specialized Information Technology.
A special center was founded to help the private sector adapt to state of the art technology and coordinating an E-commerce awareness campaign.
The centre, opened at the ACI, “will be responsible for execution, controlling and coordinating of the “roll-out” training that you [participants] are going to conduct,” Bdeir told trainees.
The second phase is slated to start in mid-January. — ( Jordan Times )
