The King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center in Jeddah is to hold the first international conference in the Middle East on biotechnology as part of the 2002 Jeddah Technology Week.

With the participation of 1,000 people from all over the world, the conference on biotechnology will be held at the Hilton Hotel, April 6-8, 2002, according to a company press release. The conference will include an exhibition where leading international companies in the biotechnology industry will be able to display and advise on their latest products and services.

Saudi Technology Week will also feature the Saudi Technology Forum, organized by the Jeddah Marketing Board in association with faculty members of the London Business School and INSEAD, France’s leading business school. Comdex 2002, will however feature as one of the main events.

The theme for the inaugural Saudi Technology Forum is Realities in a Virtual World: The Future for Business in a Digital Economy. “This unique event will provide an invaluable opportunity for government and business communities to learn more about new technologies and assess the implications for social, economic and commercial strategies,” said Amr Dabbagh, chairman of Jeddah Marketing Board, (JMB). He added, “The program will examine how technology impacts the way we communicate and compete.”

The Saudi Technology Forum will be held at the Jeddah Hilton on April 1-2, 2002. The delegate fee is $500. Also, running between April 1-4, Comdex 2002 will be held at two venues: the Comdex Professional Fair at the Jeddah International Exhibition and Convention Centre and the ‘Comdex Shopper’ at the Al-Hamrah Exhibition Center on the Corniche Road. — (menareport.com)
