TotalFina Elf's K4BE satellite platform has come on stream in Dutch Sector Block K4A in the North Sea. Gas production began from the K4BE1 well and has now reached around 1.4 MMcm/d.
The production level will increase substantially when a second development well, currently being drilled, comes on stream soon. In addition, three further development wells will be completed by 2004. The K4BE gas is being sold to Gasunie.
It is processed on TotalFina Elf's neighboring offshore facilities and carried ashore by the WGT gathering system to the Balgzand terminal in Den Helder.
This new development project is expected to increase TotalFina Elf's production in the Netherlands over the next three years. Energie Beheer Nederland BV is an equal partner in Block K4A.
