Carrier Devices, in co-operation with Microsoft Middle East, Cityline and High Tech Corporation (HTC), have launched the iMate Smartphone, a new generation of mobile phone. The iMate will be available commercially from April 2003 across the Middle East and Africa.

With a specialized version of the Windows CE operating system, the phone has a high-resolution, graphical, color screen small enough to fit on a compact phone yet big enough to comfortably play games, view e-mails, images and browse the Web, according to a press release.

The iMate will be available with integrated dual language packs in Arabic and English from May 2003. The iMate Smartphone offers personal information management and e-mail functionality through both the English and Arabic versions of Microsoft Outlook, a Web browser in Microsoft Pocket Internet Explorer, Instant message capabilities with MSN Messenger, and the ability to listen to music and play video with Microsoft Windows Media Player. It will also come bundled with localized Arabic content provided by Cityline. — (menareport.com)
