Following the severe leak from Oman's Rulieh oil well earlier this week, a fire broke out on Tuesday, August 7, in the well, reported AFP news agency. The cause of the fire is still not known, yet the fire is contained to “the mouth of the well, with flames reaching up to 15 meters in height.”

Casualties have not been reported, and a team of firefighters is expected to arrive on the weekend from Texas in the US, to help contain the spill. Presently the leak is estimated at 1,500 to 2,000 barrels per day. — (Mena Report)
