Finland's Wartsila Corporation has signed two contracts to supply two 341 mega watt oil-fired power plants to Iraq with a total value of $450 million. Both plants will be delivered to the Ministry of Electricity of Iraq close to Baghdad.
This is the largest power plant order ever received by the company, a press release confirmed. Each power plant consists of 20 Warsila 46 engines as prime movers, which will be delivered from the company's Trieste factory. Delivery is scheduled for 2004 and 2005.
Warsila is comprised of three power divisions: marine, power plants and services. The company also consists of Imatra Steel, its fourth industrial division. The company provides solutions for power generation and marine propulsion. It designs, manufactures, licenses, sells and services Wartsila and Sulzer engines and installations. — (menareport.com)
