Fifty percent rise in Jordan’s 2001 mining exports

A 54.7 percent rise was recorded this past year in Jordan’s cement exports, from $22.8 million in 2000 to $35.2 million in 2001, confirmed a recent release by the Jordanian Public Statistics Department. The Kingdom’s phosphate exports registered a milder 1.2 percent increase in 2001, from $127.1 million to $128.8 million.  

 

The state owned Jordan Phosphate Mines Company (JPMC) is ranked the sixth largest phosphate producer and the third largest exporter in the world. Jordan’s principle export commodities include fertilizers, potash, agricultural products and various manufactured goods. The Jordanian Statistics Bureau estimated the kingdom’s total exports at $1.9 billion Jordanian throughout the year 2001.  

 

More than half of Jordan’s total exports a destined to European Union (EU) markets. Other export partner include Iraq, India, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Lebanon, Kuwait, Syria and Ethiopia — (menareport.com)
