ALBAWABA – Over the past two days, users of Facebook, the social networking platform, reported that the platform’s iconic blue logo turned black on their smartphones and other devices. This change led many users to question if it was a technical glitch or part of a new application update.

Users shared screenshots and photos of the Facebook logo shown on their smartphones and devices and wondered about the reason behind this sudden change. The logo eventually reverted into its original blue color after days.

Meta announced that the changing Facebook icon was due to technical issues, the company disclaimed any new rebranding campaigns for the application now, according to Business Insider. (Shutterstock)

Experts assumed the change was related to a new update released for the social media application or a new iOS update on apple phones, while a journalist from USA TODAY said she saw the new black logo on her device after she ran an update for the new iOS system and another update for the Facebook application.

Dave Arnold, Meta communications manager, said: “This was caused by a technical issue and has been resolved, people will see the fix when they update their app.”

It is worth noting that users were not happy with the temporary black logo, as it showed a black background with the blue Facebook icon in the center instead of the classic blue background with the white icon.
