European Union (EU) exports to Iran are set to reach six billion Euro ($5.4 billion) in 2001, having already increased by 34 percent in the first nine months of the year, according to the official Iranian news agency IRNA. The value of Iranian exports to the EU, on the other hand, is expected to fall by 20 percent to around €6.7 billion, due to weaker oil prices this year.

According to Eurostat figures, exports from the 15-member EU to Iran reached €4.6 billion between January and September 2001, up from €3.5 billion in the corresponding period of the previous year. Iran's exports to the EU fell from €6.3 billion in the first nine-months of 2000, to €5.1 billion in the same period in 2001. Revenues from Iranian oil exports fell from €5.4 the 15 to €4.2 billion during that time. — (menareport.com)
