The Emirates Telecommunication Corporation, Etisalat, and Microsoft will work closely together to deliver a mobile solution utilizing GPRS technology based on the Microsoft Information Server (MIS) package with a view to a commercial launch in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by the end of the year.
This solution from Etisalat will offer a reliable, scalable and manageable wireless access platform that mobile-enables existing infrastructure. This will facilitate increased corporate mobility by linking employees wirelessly and securely to their Microsoft Exchange 2000 and other messaging systems. Employees can access inbox, calendar, contacts and tasks through their mobile device such as the recently launched Pocket PC Phone Edition.
