As part of its on-going initiative of Innovative Human Resources Strategies For The New Millennium, Etisalat invited the General Pension and Social Security Authority to a forum last week at Etisalat Academy’s one million square feet campus in Al-Ghusais near Dubai Airport Free Zone.
Over 60 Etisalat senior officials attended the day event, from the Head Office in Abu Dhabi and from across the regions, including senior HR managers, finance managers and Information Technology (IT) staff dealing with payroll and pension procedures.
“Today’s forum is part of our on-going commitment to enhance the knowledge and expertise of our staff,” commented Abdul Aziz Al-Sawaleh, Executive Vice President Human Resources, Etisalat. “Pension and Social Security issues are very important to our 4,000 United Arab Emirates (UAE) National employees, in fact they represent 39 percent of the total Etisalat workforce.”
“Training and development for our staff in this area is therefore essential, we have ambitious plans for our Nationalization program, which will see 50 percent of the entire workforce made up of Nationals by 2006.”
The Etisalat Academy represents a 165 million Emirati dirham investment by Etisalat designed to turn the UAE into a center of training excellence for its own staff and for students from all over the world. It offers over one million square foot of space containing over 60 classrooms, five large workshops, five seminar rooms, a 300-seat auditorium, a 500-person capacity multi-purpose hall, an extensive multimedia library, a modern sports recreational complex and three deluxe student hostels. — (menareport.com)
