Etihad Airways to fly non-stop services to Brussels and Toronto

Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, is to start non-stop flights from Abu Dhabi to both Brussels and Toronto from 1 June, 2007.

Arrival times at Abu Dhabi have been fixed for air travellers from the Belgian capital and Canada’s commercial centre to transfer easily on to many of the popular destinations across Etihad’s fast growing route network.

James Hogan, Etihad Airways’ chief executive said:  “These two non stop flights demonstrate our ambition to link the world’s major business capitals.”

The flight schedule to Brussels will start from 1 June, with flight EY055 departing from Abu Dhabi on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays at 1.35pm and arriving in Brussels at 6.45pm, local time.  The service will also carry the “SN” code of Etihad’s partner, Brussels Airlines.  The return flight EY056 will depart from at 10.10pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays arriving in Abu Dhabi at 6.55am the next day.

The aircraft used on the Abu Dhabi – Brussels route will be an Airbus A330-200, configured in three classes.

The first non-stop service to Toronto starts on 2 June, with flight EY141 departing from Abu Dhabi at 2.05am on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and arriving in Toronto at 8.40am the same day. The return flight, EY140 departs Toronto at 10.20am on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, arriving in Abu Dhabi at 7.45am the next day.

The Toronto service will be operated by an ultra long haul Airbus A340-500 aircraft configured in three classes, with 12, 28 and 200 seats respectively.
