ESWA predicts 2.1 percent regional product growth rate for 2002

The Economic and Social Committee of Western Asia (ESCWA)’s annual report predicted that the average growth rate of the region’s total economic products, excluding Iraq, will stand at 2.1 percent in 2002, reported Al-Hayat. The report predicts a one percent average economic growth rate in the Arabian Gulf states in 2002, compared with 2.3 percent in 2001 and 4.6 percent in 2000. The report anticipates an up to four percent average economic growth rate in ESCWA member countries compared with 2.1 percent in 2001 and 3.8 percent in 2000. — (menareport.com)
