No, Enron took to several social media platforms including Instagram and Musk's X (formerly Twitter), and wrote, "Today we launched The Enron Egg, the world’s first micro-nuclear reactor made to power your home. #EPS2025" following a series of photos showcasing the fake product.
An investigation was launched by several sources, alongside social media users, and revealed that the product was intended purely as a parody. The claims were confirmed after examining the website's "Terms of Use and Conditions of Sale" tab.
The energy company filed for bankruptcy back in 2001 due to internal accounting fraud, hidden debt, and inflating profits reportedly resulting in mass lay-offs and investors losing their money, as reported by US Today.
Moreover, Its CEO Jeffrey Skilling was sentenced to 24 years in prison in 2001 but was released back in 2018. On the contrary, Enron's founder Kenneth Lay was also sentenced to prison but died due to suffering from a heart attack while serving his sentence.
According to CNN, Enron was bought by the man behind the "Birds Aren't Real" conspiracy, Connor Gaydos who bought the energy company back in 2020 for only $275. However, Enron is currently listed as a "performance art" company instead of an energy corporation.
