Moroccan energy production rose by 4 percent in the third quarter of 2000, it was announced by the Moroccan Board of Statistics at the ministry of economic forecasting and planning in Rabat.
Electricity accounted for 15 percent of the rise in energy production, the board said, adding that it expected the same trend to be visible when the fourth quarter results are announced.
Nonetheless, compared to the second quarter, energy production in the mining and industrial sectors fell by 8 percent and 2 percent respectively compared to the previous quarter.
The board said that the fall could be attributed mainly to the phosphates industry, and added that the situation is temporary, because mining production stabilized in the fourth quarter. – (Albawaba-MEBG)
