Dubai's Emirates airline signed a 12-year finance lease agreement this week for the purchase of an Airbus A330-200. The $94.2 million deal will allow the company to take delivery of the aircraft by January-end, an Emirates statement said

The deal was arranged by France’s Credit Agricole Indosuez, with additional financing from German banks Norddeutsche Landesbank Girozentrale, DGZ.DekaBank-Deutsche Kommunalbank and Kreditanstalt Fur Wiederaufbau (KfW).

In mid-November, the airline signed an $87-million finance agreement to acquire an Airbus A330-200, also arranged by Credit Agricole Indosuez of France.

Currently operating 36 aircraft, the state-owned Emirates has embarked on a massive expansion scheme this year, including the purchase of 100 aircraft by 2010. In November 2001, the airline announced it had agreed to buy 68 passenger planes worth over $15 billion from Airbus and Boeing. — (menareport.com)
